Stormont Vail Health Awarded Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care from The Joint Commission
Stormont Vail Health has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care (ACPC) by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards. The Gold Seal is a symbol of quality that reflects a healthcare organization’s commitment to providing safe, high quality, patient care, including for both complicated and uncomplicated pregnancies.
Stormont Vail underwent a two-day review in Dec. 2023. During the visit, a team of Joint Commission reviewers conducted observations and interviews, and evaluated compliance with related certification standards, including those that demonstrate the ability and commitment to providing secure care to patients before, during, and after delivery, as well as newborns. Joint Commission standards are developed in talks with healthcare experts and providers, measurement experts, and patients.
“Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care recognizes healthcare organizations committed to striving for excellence and fostering continuous improvement in patient safety and quality of care,” said Ken Grubbs, DNP, MBA, RN, Executive Vice President of Accreditation and Certification Operations and Chief Nursing Officer, The Joint Commission. “We commend Stormont Vail for using The Joint Commission certification process to reduce variation in clinical processes.”
ACPC addresses a growing need for appropriate obstetric care, helping ensure a multidisciplinary approach is taken when developing a patient-centered care plan using evidence-based assessment tools.
“Our commitment to achieving this certification is really our commitment to our patients, their families, and our community,” said Kim Dick, Perinatal Quality Program Manager. “We utilize The Joint Commission’s certification as a formalized way to hold ourselves accountable to and pledge the level of excellence we expect each patient in our Maternal Child service line to receive while they are in our care.”
