Public Invited to Open House detailing Gage Park Master Plan Update Project

Public Invited to Open House detailing Gage Park Master Plan Update Project

Shawnee County Parks & Recreation, the Gage Park Improvement Authority and Bartlett & West invite the public to attend an open house on May 16, 2024, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Big Gage Shelter House in Gage Park. The open house will provide an opportunity for the public to learn about the project, which aims to update the 2023 Gage Park Master Plan and guide the future development and preservation of the park.

The open house will feature information stations where the public can view the project goals, objectives and timeline, as well as the existing conditions and opportunities analysis of the park. The public will also have the chance to provide feedback on the information presented and share their preferences and priorities for the park's future.

In addition, the open house will include a station at which the public can submit historic images and stories about Gage Park as part of an initiative to build a public historic record for the park. The project team is seeking photos, documents and anecdotes that capture the history and significance of the park, its features and events. The public can bring their own copies of historic materials or scan them onsite with the help of the project staff. The project team will also record oral histories from the public who wish to share their memories of the park. There will be an extended opportunity for the public to submit these materials in an online format as well.

The Gage Park Master Plan Update project is a collaborative effort between Shawnee County Parks & Recreation, the Gage Park Improvement Authority and Bartlett & West. The project team encourages the public to attend the open house and share their input and stories about Gage Park. For more information about the project, please visit parks.snco.us.
