Topeka Zoo to Celebrate World Lion Day
The Topeka Zoo and Conservation Center will observe World Lion Day on Saturday, August 3rd, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
Visitors to the Topeka Zoo will have opportunities to learn about the zoos African Lions and about Africa’s wild lions living in their native ranges.
With 43% of Africa’s wild lions being lost in the last fifteen years alone, a loss of almost half the world’s African lions in only three generations of lions, the Topeka Zoo is committed to working with and supporting the conservation of these amazing big cats in their native ranges.
World Lion Day is an opportunity for the zoo to share the stories of our own African lions as well as raise awareness of the challenges wild lion’s face and the great work being done to conserve them.
World Lion Day at the Topeka Zoo will include crafts tables for kids of all ages as well as a special enrichment activity for the lions at 9:15 AM, followed by Keeper Chats from Topeka Zoo Animal Care Staff at 9:30 AM and 2:00 PM.
Come join your Topeka Zoo for our annual observation of World Lion Day at the Topeka Zoo and Conservation Center on Saturday, August 3rd, 9:00 – 3:00.
