PTMW Expanding in Topeka Area

PTMW Expanding in Topeka Area

Topeka and Shawnee County’s Joint Economic Development Organization (JEDO) board approved an agreement that will aid in the expansion of PTMW Inc., an existing business in Topeka’s manufacturing industry that is leading the way in manufacturing, welding, fabrication and more.

Previously referred to as “Project Queen Bee,” the expansion is expected to result in 182 new jobs, with salaries ranging from $80,000 to $120,000. PTMW is expected to make a capital investment of $47.2 million in the project. Economic development funds of up to almost $1.6 million, dispersed over five years, are being offered to the business through JEDO to aid in the company’s growth. With a projected local economic impact of $1.3 billion over 10 years, the expansion is expected to result in a 1,782% return on investment for the community.

“We’re proud to call the Capital City ‘home’ and are excited to expand our footprint here,” said Ashley Bettis, president of PTMW Inc. “GO Topeka and JEDO have been strong partners in the expansion process, and we’re grateful to have their support as we move forward with our buildout. PTMW has delivered world-class manufacturing and production from the heart of the Midwest for more than 40 years. We’re also a Women’s Business Enterprise recognized throughout North America, certified by KDOC and the national WBENC. These project investments and the growth they spur allow us to continue leading with excellence in the decades to come.”

“It’s wonderful to see a local company like PTMW recognize the immense value of doing business in Topeka and Shawnee County,” said Kevin Cook, Shawnee County Commission chair. “I’m eager to see their business expansion unfold and know they’ll continue doing great things to put the community’s manufacturing industry on the map.”

“I’m proud to see PTMW expand their presence in the community, creating more new jobs for local residents,” said Topeka Mayor Mike Padilla. “Businesses like PTMW are key to maintaining a strong local economy, as they continue to invest in and contribute to the economic vitality of our capital city.”

“PTMW has been a collaborative partner in the community’s success over the years,” said Molly Howey, GO Topeka president. “The expansion they’re embarking on will no doubt make them an even bigger player in the area, and across our region. I’m confident the job creation and investments PTMW is generating will further enhance the company’s status as a peer example of success and innovation in the manufacturing space.”
