Adaptive Golf Camp Tees Off in Topeka This August

Adaptive Golf Camp Tees Off in Topeka This August

Capper Foundation, in collaboration with the I GOT THIS Foundation and Topeka Country Club, is excited to bring the first ever I GOT THIS Golf Camp to Topeka from August 4–8, 2025. This inclusive, adaptive golf experience is open to athletes aged 13 and older, including adults, who have a diagnosis of Down Syndrome and/or Intellectual Disability. The camp will run daily from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Topeka Country Club, located at 2700 SW Buchanan Street. On the final day of the camp, I GOT THIS Foundation founder Amy Bockerstette will be in attendance to speak to the participants.

The I GOT THIS Golf Camp is designed to introduce athletes to the fundamentals of golf in a supportive and encouraging environment. Led by professional instructors affiliated with the I GOT THIS Foundation, the camp focuses on building skills, confidence, and a love for the game. To participate, athletes must be able to stand and walk independently and demonstrate controllable behaviors. Each athlete is also required to bring a Playing Partner—a trusted family member or friend who knows their needs and can assist them throughout the week. No golf experience is necessary for either the athlete or the Playing Partner, making this a great opportunity for both to learn and grow together.

Golf equipment will be provided for athletes who do not have their own clubs, and Playing Partners do not need to bring any gear. Participants should come prepared with comfortable walking shoes, appropriate golf attire, and sunscreen. It’s important to note that volunteer buddies will not be provided by Capper Foundation or Topeka Country Club, so Playing Partners must be present each day of the camp.

Registration is available online, with payment accepted by credit card or by check made payable to Capper Foundation. Checks should include “Golf Camp” in the memo line and be mailed to 3500 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66604. For questions, contact Edie Smith at Capper Foundation via email at esmith@capper.org. Capper Foundation and its partners are thrilled to offer this empowering experience to the Topeka community and look forward to a week filled with learning, connection, and fun on the fairway.

Capper Foundation’s mission is to build abilities and empower people of all ages living with disabilities. For more information, visit https://www.capper.org and follow us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
