Junior Achievement of Kansas Announces New Leadership for Topeka Board and Statewide Governance
Junior Achievement of Kansas is proud to announce the appointment of Whitney Cartmill as the new Statewide Board Chair and Matt Kelly as the Topeka District Board Chair. Both leaders bring passion, experience, and a deep commitment to empowering Kansas youth through Junior Achievement's financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and work readiness programs.
Whitney Cartmill – Statewide Board Chair
Whitney Cartmill, Director of Purchasing at Midwest Health, has been a dedicated member of the Junior Achievement of Kansas Board since 2021. Most recently serving as Chair of the Topeka Board, Whitney now steps into her new role as Chair of the Statewide Board, guiding the strategic direction and vision for all three JA districts: Topeka, Wichita, and Lawrence.
Throughout JA’s leadership transitions, Whitney has been a steady, hands-on supporter, contributing to major fundraising events like the Business Hall of Fame, Derby Auction, and Golf Tournament. Known for her organizational expertise, financial acumen, and mission-driven focus, Whitney has been instrumental in administrative operations and long-term planning.
“JA is built on a strong foundation and has been led by incredible individuals throughout its history,” said Sarah Dunekack, President & CEO of JA of Kansas. “We’re honored to have Whitney bring her leadership, tenacity, and brilliance to this statewide role as we move into JA’s next chapter.”
Matt Kelly – Topeka District Board Chair
Junior Achievement is also excited to welcome Matt Kelly, Communications Manager for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, as the Topeka District Board Chair. Matt has been a key driver in the ongoing partnership between Goodyear and JA, expanding volunteer opportunities and supporting fundraising efforts, including JA’s annual Golf Tournament.
With a background in marketing and website development, Matt is playing an essential role in JA’s upcoming website redesign, bringing creativity and technical skill to enhance JA’s reach and impact. His nonprofit experience, combined with his deep roots in the Topeka community, makes him an ideal leader for the Topeka district.
“Matt leads with enthusiasm and action,” said Dunekack. “He’s not afraid to roll up his sleeves and take on big projects to move our mission forward. We’re incredibly grateful for his support of JA, our students, and the greater Topeka community.”
Together, Whitney and Matt represent the future of Junior Achievement leadership—grounded in service, energized by collaboration, and committed to preparing Kansas youth for a lifetime of success.
