The Our Lady of Guadalupe (OLG) Parish is proud to announce an expanded calendar of events for its 93rd annual Fiesta Topeka, a community celebration where heritage and culture take center stage. “Fiesta Topeka is more than a festival,” said 2026 Fiesta Committee Chair Raul Guevara. “It is a living testament to the pride, resilience and spirit of our community. For more than 90 years, we have come together to celebrate who we are, to honor those who built this tradition, and to pass it on to the next generation—all while supporting the children of Holy Family School. We invite everyone in Topeka and beyond to be part of it.”
Fiesta Topeka has evolved over the decades. What began as a one-day event in 1933 organized by Father Augustine Cuartero and parish volunteers, with the generous assistance of local philanthropist Mrs. Genevieve McDade, has expanded to a months-long celebration.
Fiesta remains true to its original purpose: fundraising to support the parish’s school, while sharing Mexican culture with all who attend. It serves as the primary fundraiser for Holy Family School, a Catholic elementary school jointly administered by Our Lady of GuadalupeParish and Sacred Heart–St. Joseph Parish. Every element of the fiesta, from thousands of homemade food items prepared each night to colorful floats in the downtown parade, is organized and operated entirely by parish and community volunteers.
The 2026 fiesta planning committee is seeking additional volunteers, to help with tasks like grounds maintenance, food sales, and event setup and teardown. To volunteer, contact Volunteer Chair Fatima Perez-Luthi at FiestaTopekaVolunteerChair@olg-parish.com.
As one of the city’s most well-known cultural festivals, Fiesta Topeka attracts attendees from across northeast Kansas and the Midwest.
