Mother's Day Market to Bring Vendors, Live Music, Food Trucks and Family Activities to Evergy Plaza

Downtown Topeka will welcome shoppers, families and visitors to Evergy Plaza on Saturday, May 9, for the Mother’s Day Market, a community event featuring more than 50 vendors, live music, food trucks, local makers and family-friendly activities.

The market will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will offer a wide variety of gift items, experiences and entertainment throughout the morning. Guests can shop for flowers, jewelry, apparel, accessories, pottery, makeup, soaps, baked goods, jams, breads, cheeses, salsa, art, home goods and more from vendors stretching across the plaza.

The day will begin with Zumba from 9 to 10 a.m., open to all experience levels, followed by live jazz from the Max Levy Band from 10 a.m. to noon. Food and drink options will include breakfast, snack and entrée trucks, Joylight Coffee, and mimosas from The Beacon’s Oasis mobile bar.

Activities and experiences will include the Evergy Plaza splash pad, face art, permanent jewelry, cake making, henna, and chair and hand massages available on a first-come, first-served basis. Downtown businesses Solitaire and Trust Co Salon will also be highlighted as part of the event experience through their support of the massage offerings.

“This will be one of the more exciting events I’ve gotten to be a part of,” said Dylan Tyler, Evergy Plaza Event Manager. “Not only will we have vendors stretching from every angle of the plaza, but the variety of things these vendors will be bringing is fascinating. I’m hopeful and certain this is one of those events that can make an impact across downtown as a whole. Don’t forget the farmers market, restaurants and merchants will be open too.”

The Mother’s Day Market is expected to bring added energy to Downtown Topeka while encouraging visitors to explore nearby restaurants, shops and other local destinations. With a full morning of shopping, music, food and activities, the event offersa festive way to celebrate moms, families and the local businesses that help make Topeka’s downtown community thrive.
