American Business Women’s Association Career Chapter of Topeka will recognize Dr. Brenda Dietrich as the 2015 Woman of Distinction at the 33rd Annual Woman of Distinction Scholarship Luncheon on March 10, 2015 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Sunflower Ballroom in the Maner Conference Center. Dr. Dietrich has served as the superintendent for the Auburn-Washburn School District for the last 14 years, overseeing 1,000 employees. Her career in education has spanned over 40 years with 19 of those years as a superintendent.
Dr. Dietrich is engaged in professional activities throughout the state. She currently serves on the Boards of the Jayhawk Council of Boy Scouts, Kansas Advisory Board for Juvenile Justice, Junior Achievement, AASA the School Superintendents Association Governing Board, United School Administrators, and is Past-President of the Kansas School Superintendent’s Association. She is the past Chair of the Board of Leadership Kansas, and has served on the Boards of the United Way of Greater Topeka Board, Family Service and Guidance Center, and the Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Dietrich graduated from McPherson High School and received her B.S. in Elementary Education from Kansas State University in 1975. She has a Master’s Degree and a Ph.D. in Education Administration.
The ABWA Career Chapter Woman of Distinction Scholarship Luncheon has raised over $300,000 in scholarship funds for women pursuing degrees at Washburn University and the Washburn Institute of Technology over the past 33 years. The scholarship applications for 2015 are currently available on www.abwa-career.org and due March 10, 2015.
