BattleFrog Selects Heartland Park

battlefrogOne of the fastest growing obstacle course racing series, BattleFrog, known for its challenging endurance events and recent sponsorship of college football’s Fiesta Bowl, has selected Heartland Park Topeka to host the April 30, 2016 BattleFrog race serving the Kansas City market.  The 630 acre Heartland Park facility located just off interstate I-70 in Topeka, KS has natural terrain with ground elevation, wooded sections, a pond, and streams that provide all of the elements to make the obstacle course fun for participants. Many BattleFrog competitors are traditional 5k, and 10k runners, as well as triathletes, college students and members of military branches.  Heartland Park sits in a prime location for this audience, lying between the states’ two largest universities, The University of Kansas in Lawrence, and Kansas State University in Manhattan, as well as a host of other area colleges in Topeka, Emporia, Wichita and the entire Kansas City metro area.  For members of military facilities like the Kansas National Guard, located at Forbes Field adjacent to Heartland Park, and Fort Riley’s Army Brigades located just an hour to the west of Topeka, as well as Offut Air Force Base near Omaha, Nebraska it will make for a fun weekend event that is a short drive from their locations.

battlefrog1Heartland Park has hosted other obstacle course racing events in the past with great success, and the new ownership group lead by Chris Payne and Todd Crossley of Kansas City are excited about using the multi-purpose facility for BattleFrog.

“We extended an invite for BattleFrog to take a look at Heartland Park for their upcoming event in the Kansas City market, and they were immediately interested.  Within days they had a representative on-site to review the property and make a commitment.  BattleFrog’s event staff and management team have created a great obstacle course series that we are proud to bring to Topeka, Kansas City, and surrounding states” said Chris Payne. “The weekend of April 30th will be busy at Heartland Park with thousands of participants and spectators on hand to see and take part in the event.”

Founded by several Navy SEALs, BattleFrog states its core values as love of the outdoors, fitness, family, friends and country, and carries that theme throughout its obstacle course racing events.  There are fun and rewarding courses for kids and adults alike to challenge the best competitors in the world.  The BattleFrog series will visit the Kansas City market fresh off events in Georgia, Texas, Tennessee, and North Carolina.  In total, the event at Heartland Park will be one of more than 40 BattleFrog races during the 2016 season.

This time it’s different?
