Psychiatrist Kashif Hameed, M.D., Joins Stormont Vail
(Topeka, Kansas, Oct. 1, 2018) – He will practice at Stormont Vail Behavioral Health Center , 3707 S.W. Sixth Ave., Topeka, Kansas. Dr. Hameed believes great strides have been made in changing the community’s perception of people with mental illnesses but more work still needs to be done.
“With the shift toward population health, we need to make sure we are also providing preventative mental health care,” Hameed said. “Let’s help people better understand mental disorders, such as depression, so that they can start to identify the signs and seek help before it gets out of control.”
Dr. Hameed received his medical degree at Sindh Medical College, University of Karachi, Karachi, Pakistan, in 1992. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, Pakistan, in 2006. Dr. Hameed moved to the United States and then decided to pursue the behavioral health field. He completed his fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry in 2014 and his residency in adult psychiatry in 2018 at the University of Kansas, Kansas City, Kansas.
Dr. Hameed enjoys playing cricket, racquetball, billiards and bowling. He enjoys painting and calligraphy, as well.
