Visit Topeka is inviting the community to participate in creating a new event for 2016. The My Top Festival contest will accept event idea submissions from Tuesday, December 8 to December 21 through Visit Topeka's Facebook page. After narrowing the submissions to five finalists, the community will be invited to vote for their top festival, which Visit Topeka will bring to life in 2016.
“Visit Topeka is always looking for ways to bring more people into Topeka and engage the local community as well” said Brett Oetting, president and CEO of Visit Topeka. “This is a great way to get the community to tell us exactly what it is they want. We really urge people to get creative. Dream something up. Tell us about an event you attended in another city, ask your kids what they want, but most importantly get involved and tell us how we can make Topeka the place you want to be.”
Visit Topeka staff will review all submitted ideas and select five event finalists. The community will be invited to vote on their favorite event idea from the finalists from January 4 through January 10. The announcement of the top event will occur on January 11 and Visit Topeka staff will immediately get to work, developing the winning event for 2016.
To participate, please submit an event name and a short description of your idea. The person or persons who submit the winning event idea will receive special VIP access to the upcoming Kansas Chocolate Festival which will be held in partnership with Mars Chocolate, Sept. 24, 2016.
