Downtown Topeka Inc’s announcement earlier today regarding a new hotel, restaurant and meeting space downtown generated a buzz at neighbor Westar Energy. “As a major employer downtown, we’re excited about our new neighbor and love that other businesses are joining us by investing in downtown Topeka,” said Michel‘ Cole, vice president corporate communications and public affairs. “This is great news for all of Topeka and helps move our community forward. We’re looking forward to hosting guests at the new facility, which will drive the cycle of reinvestment in downtown businesses. Established businesses also will benefit from this new energy downtown.”
This morning a local businessman announced development of a hotel and restaurant with meeting space to be constructed in four buildings in the 900 block of South Kansas. The announcement comes as construction to revitalize Topeka’s downtown progresses.
