Topeka Credit Union Foundation Announces Grant Recipients

The Topeka Credit Union Foundation trustees from Envista Credit Union, Azura Credit Union, Kansas Blue Cross Blue Shield Credit Union and Mid American Credit Union announced the ten local organizations receiving grants from the foundation in 2020. The combined total of the gifts is $25,789, bringing the total to $303,573.50 given by the Topeka Credit Union Foundation since it was established in 2004.

“The Foundation is proud to support multiple local organizations each year,” said Tara Dimick, Chief Business Development Officer for Envista and Vice President of the Topeka Credit Union Foundation. “This year we were able to provide gifts to support everything from financial literacy to the theatre, while also addressing PPE needs due to COVID-19.”

The Topeka Credit Union Foundation will award grants to the following organizations:

Boys & Girls Club of Topeka – to purchase BGCT masks in children and adults sizes for kids and staff to provide safety during COVID-19.

Capper Foundation – to purchase a specialized adapted activity chair to be used during feeding therapy for children who need more support to eat safely.

Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas – to assist poverty stricken Topeka clients in the Asset Development program that offers financial mentoring and financial literacy.

Helping Hands Humane Society – to provide basic medical care, such as vaccinations and sterilizations of animals who are admitted into the shelter.

Historic Jayhawk Theatre – to provide equipment and resources needed to develop, create, implement and market a STEAM-based virtual field trip for students.

Housing & Credit Counseling, Inc. – to respond to "short-term inquires" that require "solution focused brief intervention" by HCCI to help people resolve immediate and urgent situations related to the pandemic.

Jr. Achievement of Kansas – to purchase personal finance programming kit materials for each area high school participating in the Personal Finance Symposium virtually due to COVID-19.

Topeka Habitat for Humanity, Inc. – to support “Aging in Place” holistic home repair program that engages multiple community partners and provides products and services that foster the health and well-being of our aging population.

Topeka Rescue Mission  to assist in Operation Food Secure, an initiative designed to address food insecurity in Topeka.

YWCA of Northeast Kansas – to purchase various materials to create learning stations for the Early Learning Center Self Exploration Playground - a playground for toddlers, preschoolers and Pre-K students that consist of various STEM and literacy stations where students will explore, learn and play using social distanced activities.

The Topeka Credit Union Foundation was formed in 2004 by six local credit unions “to support organizations conducting philanthropic or charitable purposes for the greater good of our communities.” With this year’s grants, $303,573.50 has been contributed to numerous organizations primarily in the Topeka community. The Foundation is supported by Azura Credit Union, Envista Credit Union, Kansas Blue Cross Blue Shield Credit Union, and Mid American Credit Union.
