TK: What inspired you to start your business?
Struggling with my own two children’s sleep which led me to be quite sleep deprived myself. As a full-time employee, wife, and mom, I knew I had to find a solution fast! This led me to lots of research and eventually helping both of our kids begin sleeping well. It also led me to learning about sleep consulting. I knew right away that I wanted to help other families do what I did with our kids and that this was a unique business idea to bring to Topeka. I also received lots of encouragement and nudging from my husband to just do it!
TK: What has been your greatest success?
Reaching 100 clients several months ago was a fun milestone. To be able to say that I’ve helped that many children go from terrible sleep to sleeping through the night is very rewarding!
TK: What has been your greatest challenge?
Each child I work with is a new challenge and has their own unique circumstances. It’s like a puzzle each time I read through a new case and piece together a plan for them.
Also, learning that my business is mine and I get to run it how I want. Learning to make decisions for what works for me. It may not look like another sleep consultant’s business and that’s okay.
TK: What is the biggest risk you have ever taken?
Leaving my full-time corporate job to work my business full-time. Scary and risky for sure but there’s no better way to give yourself a kick in the pants and to make sure you succeed than to leave a sure income.
TK: How do you recharge?
Working out, family outings, Netflix, eating dessert
