Hematology and Oncology Physician Brandon Weckbaugh, M.D., joins Stormont Vail Health

Hematology and Oncology Physician Brandon Weckbaugh, M.D., joins Stormont Vail Health

Stormont Vail Health is proud to announce that Brandon Weckbaugh, M.D., has joined our team and will practice as a hematology and oncology physician, located at the Cotton O’Neil Cancer Center, 1414 S.W. 8th Ave., Topeka, 66606.

From a young age, Dr. Weckbaugh knew he wanted to become a physician. As he began to explore a career in medicine, the complex problem-solving that goes into caring for the patients and the ability to help people are what ultimately led him to practice medicine. During his residency, he was drawn to the field of hematology and oncology during his rounds. His passion for this specialty grew out of the dynamic nature and unique needs of the patients he saw during his rounds.

“I like to build meaningful relationships with my patients,” said Dr. Weckbaugh. “Learning more about my patient’s family and who they are outside of the clinic allows me to have a more therapeutic relationship while treating them and create a positive long-term rapport.”

Dr. Weckbaugh earned his medical degree in 2013 from St. George’s University School of Medicine, Grenada, West Indies. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, Kansas City, Kansas, in 2016. In 2020, he completed his fellowship in hematology and oncology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Kansas City, Missouri.

Dr. Weckbaugh was born and raised in Topeka and is excited to be back in his hometown to continue his career. When not in the clinic, he enjoys spending time with his family watching sports, gardening, and cooking together.
