Starting August 19! Working Capital Grants Available to Small Businesses.

Calling all small business owners!!!

Apply for COVID-19 Relief Grant August 19th.

The state of Kansas is making emergency financial relief available from federal CARES Act funding to those who need it most.

The Strengthening People and Revitalizing Kansas (SPARK) Task Force has approved more than $130 million in relief funding for economic development and connectivity in the state. These dollars are being awarded in the form of grants to eligible businesses.

APPLICATIONS WILL OPEN WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 19 AT 12:00 P.M. CST.

Here are the details:

  • The state has dedicated $32.5 million of its federal COVID stimulus money to be used for small business working capital grants.

  • The funds can be used for payroll, rent, mortgage, etc.

  • The grant portal will open TODAY at 4 p.m. so that you and/or your small business members can view the application requirements and prepare.

  • Applications will be accepted starting at Noon on Wednesday, August 19. Commerce anticipates 10,000 applications in the first day so businesses are encouraged to apply as soon as the application process opens up.

Businesses that meet these requirements may apply:

  • Fewer than 500 employees

  • Able to demonstrate a loss of revenue at least 25% from January 1 to July 30, 2020 as compared to July 1 to December 31, 2019

Additional grants are also available through the portal if you have members whose businesses/not-for-profit organizations are working in these specific areas:

  • Local Food Systems Grants

  • PPE Manufacturing

  • COVID-Bioscience Product Development Acceleration
