Stormont Vail Health Welcomes Dr. Kelly Stumpff
Stormont Vail Health is proud to announce that Kelly Stumpff, M.D., is joining our team to practice as an orthopedic surgeon, located at Cotton O’Neil Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, 2660 S.W. 3rd St., Topeka, Kan., 66606.
As a former athlete, Dr. Stumpff has always had a passion for sports. Combine this with her love for science and math and becoming an orthopedic surgeon was almost inevitable. Dr. Stumpff uses a team-focused approach to patient care, involving her patients in their care plan.
“I like involving my patients when coming up with a treatment plan,” said Dr. Stumpff. “Instead of just telling them what to do, I ask them questions and together, we figure out what works best for them.”
Watching her patients recover and get back to living a normal, active life is a big motivating factor for Dr. Stumpff.
“A lot of the patients I see are at their worst,” Dr. Stumpff said. “Traumatic injuries are unpredictable and can happen so fast. It’s amazing having a life-calling that allows me to help others heal.”
Dr. Kelly Stumpff graduated Magna Cum Laude from Saint Louis University with Bachelor degrees in biology and theology. She later went on to attend the University of Kansas School of Medicine, Kansas City, Kan., where she received her Doctorate of Medicine. She then continued her education through an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Kansas and an orthopedic trauma residency at Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, N.C.
