LGT 2021 | Alexander Lancaster
What is your spirit animal?
Cooper's Hawk. When I was a teen, my mother picked me up from school after being sent home for getting into some kind of trouble. To my surprise, she wasn't mad at me. She took me to my first local art gallery. I kept looking at a small piece that cost about $50. She asked me if I wanted anything and I said, I love this one titled “Sun Hawk.“ The price was higher than I thought she would spend. I followed up with, "I think I could just draw something like this instead." She said, “no, we'll buy it” and smiled. It was very heartwarming. I'll never forget that day. Somehow, I knew I wanted to be an artist that sells art out of a gallery. Later in my life I got a sun and hawk tattoo on my wrist, and now I use the same image in my signature on my artwork.
