GypsySoul Eclectic Boutique | TVM Spotlight

Heather Cox, of GypsySoul Eclectic Boutique, is one of the first Topeka Vendors Market vendors and a customer favorite. She keeps her booth fresh, fun and seasonal with unique vintage, new, and secondhand finds.

Why did you name your business "GypsySoul Eclectic Boutique"?
I, myself, have officially “been” gypsysoul since 1999, when I had to come up with my first-ever email address and was going through some changes in my life. It stuck; it is still my email address, and it still describes me quite well, so it was the obvious choice for a business name.

How long has GypsySoul Eclectic Boutique been in business?
GypsySoul Eclectic Boutique has been in business since September of 2020 at Topeka Vendors Market. This is my first and only location, and I’m proud to say that it was one of the very first booths here.

What is the focus of your merchandise? What can we find in your booth that we cannot find anywhere else?
My merchandise encompasses what I like to describe as “a little bit of everything,” thus the word “eclectic” in my business name. My favorite items to sell are vintage, as I’m obsessed with old things. Most of my initial stock was my parents’ items that I inherited, which have been difficult to part with, but I’ve also kept many things that I’m unable to let go of yet. I sell unique contemporary and vintage décor, miscellany, clothing, and jewelry. Eventually, I’d like to create items to sell, as well.

Do you have a business partner, and can you tell me a little about the partnership?
My wonderful husband, Randy Klingbeil, is my partner in this business and life! None of this would be possible without him, as he has been as supportive as possible from the beginning. He gave me the courage to say, “Okay, let’s do this!” We loved Todd and Nicolle’s energy about creating such an exciting space. I sat on the floor of TVM in an empty warehouse staring at a blank corner, visualizing how Randy and I could make it work. We took measurements, I drew up specifications of what I wanted, and he built an AMAZING little space for me. Randy continues to help me by bringing stuff in and taking things out of my booth every week.

What have you discovered about being a vendor?
I’ve sold many different items, and I’m always surprised. Sometimes things that I think will sell right away sit for a while, or items that I’m not sure will appeal to customers sell right away. That is part of what makes being a vendor fun for me, seeing who else loves items that have caught my eye!
