Topeka Call for Artists, Bakers, and Builders!
It’s time to get ready for the annual Gingerbread Homes for the Holidays. Topeka Performing Arts Center invites Topeka to participate in a city-wide gingerbread competition. Gingerbread creations don’t have to be a house, TPAC is encouraging artists to build creative structures and replicas of Topeka landmarks and buildings.
Help TPAC warm up downtown this holiday season with a display of the most creative, original, artistic gingerbread designs. This family festival captures the excitement of the Holiday Season by featuring gingerbread pieces created by local organizations and individuals, benefiting the TPAC Youth Education Programs.
The Topeka Performing Arts Center’s Gingerbread competition offers several categories – professional and amateur. Entries will be judged on overall appearance, originality & creativity, difficulty, precision, technique and skill.
Support of this fundraising event helps TPAC continue to provide arts educational programming for the children of the Topeka community, through the Youth Education Programs; the Sheffel Theater Clinic, Young Artist Awards and Schooltime Theater. Since opening in 1991, the Topeka Performing Arts Center has been a forerunner in the field of professional performing arts.
Be part of this exciting holiday tradition! Registration is underway for the contest and the deadline for entries is November 11th.
The competition culminates at the big public Gingerbread Homes for the Holidays event! Families can come be part of event on November 18, 19, and 20. Admission is just $5 per person and all proceeds go to arts education programming.

• Holiday Hallway as you enter
• Gingerbread Home Display and Contest
• Local entertainment
• Fun activities—face painting, animal balloons, caricatures, and more
• Holiday Boutique vendors showcase local craft items and homemade baked goods at Sweet Tooth Lane (sponsored by TPAC volunteers)
• Build a gingerbread house from graham crackers, candy, and icing at Graham Cracker Junction.
