Spring Social Celebrates Women's Leadership In Philanthropy

“The Women’s Fund,” a donor-advised fund of the Topeka Community Foundation is hosting a Spring Social to bring awareness to their mission of promoting women’s leadership in philanthropy. The event will feature a raffle and silent auction from 3 - 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2023, inside Fairlawn Plaza Mall.

The Women’s Fund grants to projects and programs that benefit women and children in Shawnee Co. Annual grant recommendations are based on research, community collaboration and through a grant application process. Since The Women’s Fund started in 2004, more than $600,000 has been awarded. The Women’s Fund made four grants in 2023, totaling $69,000. This year’s awardees, Project 2 Restore, Topeka Housing Authority, Topeka Rescue Mission and Valeo Behavioral Health, will be present at the event with information about their programming and for a special check presentation from the Board of Directors at 3:30 p.m.

The Women’s Fund is committed to supporting groundbreaking solutions to complex problems facing women and children, while focusing on access to healthy foods, affordable housing, arts/STEAM programming, financial literacy, and health/mental health access in our community.

To date, approximately $1,000,000 has been contributed to The Women’s Fund. One half of each contribution is used for grants, the other half is held in an endowment, ensuring the Fund impacts the community for years to come.
