YWCA Northeast Kansas Hosts Week Without Violence to Shine a Light on Domestic Violence and Empower Survivors

YWCA Northeast Kansas Hosts Week Without Violence to Shine a Light on Domestic Violence and Empower Survivors

YWCA Northeast Kansas is pleased to announce its annual Week Without Violence, running from October 21st to October 25th. As part of a nationwide campaign to end domestic violence and all forms of violence against individuals in domestic partnerships, this week-long series of events is dedicated to raising awareness, offering resources, and empowering survivors.

Domestic violence impacts individuals, families, and communities across the country, and Week Without Violence is designed to confront these issues head-on. The events throughout the week will focus on prevention, education, and advocacy, providing opportunities for the public to engage in meaningful conversations, learn from experts, and take action in support of survivors.

Event Highlights

Tuesday, October 22nd | 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM | Ichabods Speak Out Poetry Open Mic

Location: Washburn University Memorial Union Underground

Speak up and speak out or listen and support at this annual poetry open mic. Students, faculty, staff, and members of the public are invited. Attendees can read their own poetry or recite from provided materials. This year’s event will feature special guest Alexis Smith, 2024 Miss Kansas, survivor and advocate for an end to domestic violence.
