Stormont Vail Health Provides Charitable Funds for the Geary County Food Pantry

Stormont Vail Health is pleased to announce a $50,000 commitment to the Geary County Food Pantry. The commitment, made over five years, is in response to the Food Pantry’s capital campaign to build a new facility in Junction City, KS. Stormont Vail Health invites our media partners to the check presentation and tour of the current facility on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 10 a.m.

Geary County has a food insecurity rate of 13.3%, one of the highest in the State of Kansas according to Kansas Health Matters. As currently constructed, the Geary County Food Pantry faces numerous challenges in working to reduce that food insecurity in Geary County and providing community members the support they need. The current facility layout is not conducive to efficient operation, renovation opportunities are limited, and work space is at a premium. The combination of these factors led to Stormont Vail’s decision to support the Geary County Food Pantry’s campaign, and work to be a part of the solution to providing Geary County with the services and support necessary for the community.

At the heart of everything Stormont Vail Health does are the four pillars by which we conduct ourselves – experience, value, growth, and community. Within the community pillar, we state, “Together we invest our time and resources in our community. We partner with like-minded organizations to advance our mission of working together to improve the health of our community.” Contributing to the Food Pantry’s campaign to construct a new, specially designed building and helping to strengthen their infrastructure follows the Stormont Vail pillar of community, working to make healthy foods the easy choice and ensure everyone is equally equipped to improve their health.
