Washburn University Named Pitch Room Sponsor at Link Innovation Labs
GO Topeka and the Greater Topeka Partnership are proud to announce Washburn University as the official Pitch Room Sponsor at Link Innovation Labs, Topeka’s newest hub for innovation, entrepreneurship and collaboration.
Located in the heart of Topeka’s Innovation District, Link Innovation Labs is designed to support startups, researchers, students and growing businesses through flexible lab and office space, coworking, conference rooms and a dedicated pitch and event space. The Pitch Room serves as a central venue for pitch competitions, presentations, workshops and community gatherings—providing a platform where ideas can be tested, refined and launched.
“Washburn University’s partnership as the Pitch Room Sponsor reflects a shared commitment to innovation, talent development and economic growth,” said Stephanie Moran, SVP of Innovation for the Greater Topeka Partnership. “The Pitch Room is where ideas meet opportunity, and Washburn’s leadership helps ensure this space supports students, entrepreneurs and innovators while strengthening real-world connections between education and industry.”
In addition to sponsoring the Pitch Room, Washburn University is actively engaging students from its business and entrepreneurship programs through internships at Link Innovation Labs, giving students hands-on experience working alongside startups, innovators and community partners. This experiential learning model helps prepare the next generation of entrepreneurs and business leaders while supporting the day-to-day operations and programming at Link.
Further strengthening this partnership, Washburn University’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) has also established a presence as a tenant within Link Innovation Labs. The SBDC’s location within the facility deepens Washburn’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses by providing direct access to advising, resources and expertise.
“Innovation is central to Washburn University’s mission of preparing students for meaningful careers and contributing to the economic vitality of our region,” said Dr. JuliAnn Mazachek, president, Washburn University. “By sponsoring the Pitch Room, placing students at Link Innovation Labs and locating the SBDC within this space, we are creating powerful pathways for applied learning and small business support that help turn ideas into action and drive lasting impact in Topeka and beyond.”
Link Innovation Labs will officially open with a ribbon cutting on Monday, Feb. 9, marking a major milestone in GO Topeka’s efforts to advance entrepreneurship, workforce development and innovation throughout Shawnee County.
