MTAA Names New Director of Airports

The Metropolitan Topeka Airport Authority (MTAA) announced today the hiring of George Hopper as the MTAA’s new Director of Airports, effective October 1.

“We are fortunate to have identified a professional of George’s caliber and experience to step into this important leadership role,” said Curtis Sneden, MTAA President. “His business focus coupled with his knowledge of the aviation regulatory environment put him in a position to make an immediate difference.”

Hopper most recently served as Airport & Railroad Operations Supervisor at Johnson County Airport Commission. He is an experienced leader in real estate development, construction, rail, transportation, logistics, and spent nearly two decades in retail management with the Wal-Mart corporation in US and International capacities. In his new role, Hopper will be responsible for the day-to-day operation, management and regulatory compliance of Topeka’s two airports, as well as, overseeing capital projects and supporting business development initiatives and new revenue opportunities.

“Topeka is well positioned for continued growth, our airports have an important role to play in supporting the region’s economic development and future opportunities. I am pleased to be part of this effort and look forward to helping build momentum already underway,” Hopper said.
