Boy Scouts to Honor Founders of Advisors Excel
The Distinguished Citizen Award Dinner honors individuals or a company in our communities for their efforts in making a distinct difference in the fabric of our community. The honoree’s community involvement touches lives and improves the quality of life for all.
Advisors Excel has known success not only through embracing a culture of community with its employees and clients, but also by adhering to the company’s four core principles, one of the most important being “always do the right thing.” Personally and professionally the trio leading the company takes that core principle to heart, and earlier this year made the commitment to deploy a group of approximately 50 employees one afternoon a week to volunteer in Topeka. Some of the organizations benefiting from the volunteer time include, the Boys and Girls Club of Topeka, Harvesters, Topeka Civic Theatre, Capper Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Meals on Wheels and Junior Achievement. Doing the right thing also means sharing the financial success of the business to make a real impact on the community and Advisors Excel has given $208,630 to 34 local not-for-profit organizations. In September 2015, Advisors Excel pledged $100,000 annually for the next five years to be split between Harvesters in Topeka and nationally through Feeding America. Because of this pledge, Harvesters will be able to provide 750,000 meals locally over five years.
The Founders of Advisors Excel will be recognized at a banquet on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at Prairie Band Resort.
“Cody, David and Derek are highly deserving of this honor for the impact they have had, and continue to have in Topeka and the surrounding communities,” says Greg Schwerdt, Distinguished Citizen Committee Chairman and President of Schwerdt Design Group. “They care immensely about their several hundred employees and improving their quality of life as well as that of thousands of Topekans through both their professional and personal investments into our City.”
