Diana Carlin to speak at YWCA Network Luncheon

Diana will speak about the 2016 Presidential Race. The luncheon will begin at 11:45 a.m. with Diana speaking from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m. Reservations may be made by calling the YWCA at 785-233-1750 ext. 200. Cost of the luncheon is $10 for YWCA members and $12 for nonmembers.  The YWCA is located at 225 W 12th St, Topeka, KS 66612. Additional parking is available in the south part of the Breakthrough House lot on Van Buren.

Diana Carlin is professor emerita of communication at Saint Louis University and the associate provost for graduate and global education. Prior to her five years in St. Louis she was a faculty member and administrator at the University of Kansas for 24 years and a faculty member at Washburn for 5. Dr. Carlin's research and teaching specialty is political communication with an emphasis on political campaigns and debates and women in politics. Her most recent publications are Gender and the American Presidency and biographies of Michelle Obama and Barbara Bush for a book on America's first ladies. She provides technical advice in new democracies on political debates and has worked in Afghanistan and Myanmar to start university debate programs as a way of preparing their countries' future leaders.
