By Tara Dimick, “A day without laughter is a day lost.”
“To assume just makes an ‘*ss’ out of ‘u’ and ‘me’”
“Sh*t or get off the pot.”
Those three sayings pretty much sum me up. (It also makes me realize that I tend to catch on to things with cuss words.)
“A day without laughter is a day lost.”
I’m not funny, but so many things in life are worth laughing over rather than hurting over. For example… gaining 60lbs in a pregnancy might sound like something a woman could be upset by, but I have to tell you, getting ready in the morning over the last four weeks is one of the funniest things I’ve experienced in a long time. It’s all how you look at it.
“To assume just makes an ‘*SS’ out of ‘U’ and ‘Me.’”
I say this to myself every time I try to cut a corner. I believe strongly that you cannot assume anything. You have to communicate all the information all the time. When you assume, EVERY TIME that you assume, bad things happen. I still fall short, but this saying reminds me that it was my own dang fault for assuming.
“Sh*T or get off the pot.”
Well, this is my key to success. I was fortunate to learn early from a mentor that action is the key to reaching your goals. Later, I learned that it was okay to fail, but I had to get back up quickly, correct the direction and get going again. That saying is the reason for all my forward movement, many of my quick decisions and my tool to stop over-thinking.
What’s the life you are living right now? What’s the life you are striving for in the future? And will your own self-talk get you there?
- Sh*t or get off the pot on anything that has been on your mind or your to-do list for over a week.
- Quit assuming that what you want is just going to appear or be done for you.
- Laugh! Laugh a lot!
Life is short—so don’t waste it.
