My hero is Indra Nooyi, Chairperson & CEO of PepsiCo. She is a master of balance: ranked as one of the most powerful businesswomen in the world while successfully raising two daughters. Indra is on the board of numerous organizations including Catalyst, Inc. (a nonprofit organization that promotes inclusive workplaces for women) and the Lincoln Performing Arts Center; two causes that are near and dear to my heart.
Best advice received:
My dad always repeated the adage “Laugh, and the world laughs with you. Cry, and you cry alone.” For me, this means trying to always stay positive. It’s a goal that I don’t always achieve, but I try. If you face the day with a smile, you are much more likely to get smiles in return. Some days “fake it ‘til you make it” comes into play, but laughing with a friend or loved one is one of the fastest ways I make myself feel better.
My biggest fear is something terrible happening to one of my children, plain and simple.
