McPherson Expands Reach with New Brand Strategy and Offices Opening in Kansas City and Colorado

MCI, now McPherson (McP), embarked on the journey to revamp their look and website based on a deep understanding of their clients’ needs and perceptions of the company. The aim with the brand launch was not for the sake of “newness” but instead a deliberate way to elevate the McPherson brand in better supporting its distinct network of clients, owners, architects, and subcontractors. The brand launch was also on the heels of McP’s expanding offices. In addition to their central location in Topeka, Kansas, they now occupy an office in Kansas City, and will have offices in Denver, Colorado and Steamboat Springs, Colorado later in 2018.

“We’ve experienced a 200% growth over 4 years, and it became increasingly clear our brand and web presence needed to reflect the current state of our company. Part of that growth also created a need to better service our clients outside of Topeka, so having offices in Kansas City and Colorado was an exciting, strategic move to make us more accessible,” said Matt McPherson, President and CEO.

McPherson has held a local presence in Topeka since 1972 when its founders, brothers Bruce and Mike McPherson, set up shop in a one-room office in the old Ramada Inn South. In 2012, Mike’s son, Matt McPherson, became president and in 2015 he purchased the company. Matt’s vision for McP is rooted in the foundation set by his father and uncle, but he’s also been able to make his own unique imprint on the family business.

“Honesty, integrity and tenacity are values instilled in our company—that remains constant at McPherson. But the construction industry and our clients’ needs have evolved over the years, especially when it comes to technology, service, and collaboration. This reshaping of the industry is a charge we’re eager to lead,” said McPherson. “We are focused on innovation and client service. Providing long-term, positive solutions is our goal at the end of the day; if we deliver on this, we’re upholding the McPherson Experience for our clients.”

The brand launch party showcased McPherson’s updated look and competitive strengths—to include its commitment to serving the community and recruitment and retention of talented team members. It also held live demonstrations of McP’s virtual reality (VR) studio, which is a service used to help clients make early decisions regarding materials and details for their construction project.

“If you asked me how McPherson compared to any company that I’ve worked with, McPherson sets the standard,” said Larry Robbins, Deputy Superintendent of Operations, USD 501.

“The McPherson team has made our lives so much easier. We truly think of them as partners on every deal and thank them for taking another step to make our jobs/projects even easier to manage!” said Brett Johnson, Partner at Overland Property Group, LLC.
