On January 27, 2016 the Topeka and Shawnee County Homeless Task Force along with many community volunteers conducted a Point-In-Time Count based on where people stayed the night of January 26. Continuum of Care networks are required by Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to conduct the Point-in-Time Count each year of both sheltered and unsheltered people experiencing homelessness. The count is not only conducted as a requirement of HUD, but it also provides the Homeless Task Force with valuable information regarding homelessness in Shawnee County.
The Topeka and Shawnee County Homeless Task Force is a volunteer organization administered by Community Resources Council (CRC.)
