Topeka Credit Unions Practice Local Service
On October 15, credit unions around the world united behind the message of “People Helping People” for International Credit Union (ICU) Day®. Locally, serving the needs of the Topeka community is a high priority for credit unions. Topeka Credit Union Foundation awarded grants to Florence Crittenton Services of Topeka, Inc., Housing and Credit Counseling, Inc., Let’s Help, Inc., Topeka Rescue Mission, and YWCA NE Kansas - Girls on the Run Program.
The Topeka Credit Union Foundation was formed in 2004 by six local credit unions “to support organizations conducting philanthropic or charitable purposes for the greater good of our communities." Since then more than $172,000 has been contributed to numerous organizations primarily in the Topeka Community. Today, support for the Foundation is provided by Educational Credit Union, Envista Credit Union, Kansas Blue Cross Blue Shield Credit Union, New Century Credit Union and Quest Credit Union.
