Greater Topeka Partnership Hires New Communications Manager
The Greater Topeka Partnership is proud to announce the recent hire of India Yarborough to serve as the organization’s communications manager. She succeeds Jensen Simmons, whose last day with the partnership was Friday.
In her new role, Yarborough will help shape the Greater Topeka Partnership’s internal and external communications strategies, while facilitating effective outreach to the organization’s employees, partners, members and community stakeholders.
“I couldn’t be more excited to join the partnership’s team,” Yarborough said. “Having worked as a reporter in Topeka for the past couple of years, I’ve gotten to know — and grown to respect — many of the GTP officials I’ll now be working alongside. The partnership is comprised of changemakers, and I look forward to collaborating with them to fulfill the organization’s mission and work toward a more prosperous Topeka.”
Yarborough joins the Greater Topeka Partnership after more than two years with The Topeka Capital-Journal, where she served as the newspaper’s business reporter. Yarborough expects her journalistic background to be a strength in her new position, as she hopes to improve the GTP’s relationship with local media partners and expand the organization’s community reach.
“We are excited to have a person of India’s caliber join our communications team,” said Bob Ross, the GTP’s senior vice president of marketing and communications. “Her experience in journalism will elevate our ability to partner with media. As a former reporter, India’s training will improve our ability to highlight our members and ensure we can continue to tell people across the country about the great things happening in our community.”
Yarborough, a Mississippi native, moved to Topeka in 2019, after graduating from Loyola University New Orleans. There she earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communication, with an emphasis in journalism and a minor in sociology.
