Forge To Host ‘TRICK-OR-TREAT ON THE TRAIL’ As Drive-Through Event

Forge To Host ‘TRICK-OR-TREAT ON THE TRAIL’ As Drive-Through Event

Forge Young Talent plans to host its tenth annual Trick-or-Treat on the Trail on Wednesday, Oct. 27. Due to forecasted weather conditions, this year’s event will be drive through only and is expected to take place in the Pine Ridge and Deer Creek communities from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Trick-or-Treat on the Trail is one of many local volunteer opportunities planned by Forge and its members.

During this year’s event, families in the Pine Ridge and Deer Creek neighborhoods may drive by our setups at Pine Ridge Prep, 1100 S.E. Highland Ave., or Deer Creek Community Center, 2345 S.E. 25th St., to pick up a Halloween bag of treats, healthy snacks and a book. Halloween costumes are encouraged.

The event is being held in collaboration with the Topeka Housing Authority, the United Way of Greater Topeka’s Young Leaders Society and Pine Ridge Prep. Pine Ridge Prep ensures that students in the Pine Ridge neighborhood, especially those living in public housing, have access to quality preschool programming.

“We are so thankful for the great partnership between Forge and Topeka Housing Authority, and the addition of United Way’s Young Leaders Society this year,” said Carolyn Zeller, member of the Forge Leadership Team and Inspire chair. “We are excited to continue this annual event and provide Halloween treats for Pine Ridge and Deer Creek families.”

Not only does Trick-or-Treat on the Trail offer locals a fun, family friendly activity as Halloween nears, but it also provides an avenue for building connections and community.

“If you just want to come out and hand out goodies to the kiddos, I can tell you it is very, very rewarding to see all those little, smiling faces and everybody happy to see you,” said Trey George, Topeka Housing Authority executive director.
