Mammoth Sports Academy Welcomes New General Manager
Mammoth Sports Academy on Monday announced former Shawnee County Parks & Recreation Superintendent Olivia Mayer as the new general manager of the facility.
Located in Meriden, Mammoth Sports Academy is a 25,000 square foot indoor sports training complex that includes the largest public turf field in the region, as well as eight batting cages and pitching lanes. It’s home to 20 teams and more than 1,500 athletes and coaches in Northeast Kansas.
“Mammoth’s mission is to build the places where passion and community collide. That's exactly what Mammoth Sports Academy is,” said Mammoth President Jake Farrant. “We welcome Olivia and can’t wait to see what the future holds for the Academy.”
The Sports Academy is quickly becoming a destination for events, private athletic instruction, tournaments, league sports, and athletic clinics. Mayer looks forward to expanding the facility’s usage.
“This is the kind of resource that enhances the quality of place for our community and we’re going to continue to build on that,” Mayer said. “The health benefits of being active are endless and there's a lot we can do by adding and offering programming opportunities for youth, families, seniors, and local organizations."
Mayer is a graduate of Emporia State University with a bachelor's degree in the Science in Recreation. In addition to her time at Shawnee County Parks and Rec she also worked for the City of Lawrence Parks and Recreation department.
Mayer and her family have lived in Jefferson County for 16 years. Her two children attend school and play sports in Jeff West schools, while her husband teaches science at the middle school and coaches middle school football and high school softball.
