Local Chapter of International Association of Business Communicators Wins International Awards
In June, the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) recognized the Topeka chapter as the Small Chapter of the Year, along with two Awards of Excellence as part of its 2021 Chapter Management Awards. The Awards of Excellence categories included Chapter Events and Professional Development. IABC/Topeka received the award for Small Chapter of the Year along with receiving Awards of Excellence in the categories of Chapter Events and Professional Development.
“We are thrilled to have received these recognitions,” Kristin Ross, IABC/Topeka president, said. “Our board of directors has worked incredibly hard throughout the pandemic to adapt and continue providing opportunities for local communication professionals to learn and grow.”
While the pandemic kept IABC/Topeka members from meeting in person, learning continued through virtual events. Monthly topics featured sessions on crisis communication, speech writing, creating inclusive content and the relationship between an organization’s brand and culture.
Upcoming events include a July 8 panel on event and on August 20, IABC/Topeka will hold its first in-person event since 2020, “Storytelling: Tips and Techniques to Inform, Influence and Induce Action.” For more information on upcoming events or IABC/Topeka, visit iabctopeka.org.
The IABC Chapter Management Awards are an annual awards program that recognizes the leadership, management, creativity and teamwork of IABC chapter leaders around the world. Chapters can be recognized with merit awards or awards of excellence.
